Three steps to your first run
Your training app runs on a computer, tablet, TV or another phone. PacePod runs on the phone you keep on the treadmill.
-
Start broadcasting
Open PacePod and tap Start. Your phone starts advertising itself as a running sensor.
-
Pair it once
In your training app, open the sensor pairing screen and choose PacePod as the running speed sensor (footpod), and as the cadence sensor too if you like.
-
Run
When you change the speed on the treadmill, set the same speed in PacePod. One tap on a preset, or + and − for small changes.
Built to use mid-stride
Big buttons and presets
Large + and − buttons and four presets you can hit without breaking stride. Press and hold to change the speed faster.
km/h or mph
Use the same unit as your treadmill display. Steps of 0.1 or 0.5, with the pace shown next to the speed.
Calibration
If your training app shows you running faster or slower than the treadmill, a calibration factor corrects the speed it receives.
Cadence too
Cadence is estimated from your speed, or you can set your own steps per minute.
Works with the screen locked
PacePod keeps broadcasting in the background. A notification shows the current speed and lets you stop.
A standard sensor
PacePod uses the Bluetooth Running Speed and Cadence profile, the same one real footpods use. No extra app or plugin needed.
What you need
An Android phone
With Bluetooth Low Energy that can act as a sensor. Most phones from the last few years can.
A second device
Running a training app that pairs with a Bluetooth running speed sensor. A phone can't pair with itself.
A treadmill
Any model. PacePod sends the speed you enter, so it doesn't need to connect to the treadmill.
